Today, from midnight to midnight, TLU invites you to partake in a 24-hour whirlwind of generosity, spirit, and Bulldog pride. This year, our Day of Giving is not just an event but also a celebration of luck, unity, and the spirit of our community, inspired by our very own Lucky the Bulldog. We're not just hoping for luck; we're creating it, one gift at a time. Your participation goes beyond just giving. It's a testament to the power of community and the collective effort to enhance the student experience and campus needs at TLU. With a goal to reach 400 gifts in 24 hours, every contribution, big or small, paves the way for a brighter future for our students and TLU as a whole.
Over the past several years, the Texas Lutheran University Orchestra has expanded from a small string ensemble into an orchestra performing repertoire from small chamber works to full symphonic repertoire. The members of the orchestra include music majors and non-music majors, most of whom benefit from music scholarships. Under the direction of TLU’s Director of Strings, Dr. Eliza Jeffords, the group has been invited to perform at educational sessions at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, Seguin Arts Festival, St. John’s Music Series, San Antonio Fiesta’s Lutheran Coronation, New Braunfels Music Club, the TLU Student Academic Symposium, TLU Youth Choir Festival, and has worked with the Houston based Mercury Ensemble and composer Brian Balmages. The TLU Orchestra performs regularly on campus and provides the original worship service Cantad al Señor for Chapel monthly basis.
Why are donations necessary?
The TLU Orchestra, seeks funding for an upcoming tour, which provides valuable experiences for students and strengthens institutional ties. Donations will support resources for student and instrument transportation, programs, meals, and accommodations, enabling the orchestra to continue its positive impact on students and the communities it visits.
